Granfors blasts to top spot in Silverstone session two

Linus Granfors made the most of better weather conditions in session two to lead the way at Silverstone.

The Swedish driver, who showed lap record pace at the circuit in pre-season testing, set a series of quick laps towards the end of the session, and finally recorded a 2m01.885s to go just over a quarter of a second quicker than Arden Motorsport’s Leon Wilson.

Wilson was less than a tenth clear of Oulton Park race winner Alisha Palmowski, with fellow opening weekend winner Brandon McCaughan fourth and 0.176s further back for KMR Sport.

The Irishman’s championship leading teammate Brandon McCaughan was fifth quickest, just over a tenth in arrears, and 0.085s clear of Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter.

The second Elite car of Finn Harrison was seventh, a tenth clear of privateer Marcus Luzio, with the third KMR car of Chloe Grant 0.031s behind in ninth.

Branden Templeton completed the top-10, less than two tenths away from Grant’s effort.

A total of 18 drivers were on track in session two, with Christian Lester not running a transponder but completing the session for Rossoverde Racing. Idola’s Aleksander Mizera and Preptech’s Flame Airikkala continued their testing programmes.
