Elite Motorsport's Fred Green claimed a second victory of the weekend at Brands Hatch in GB4 race two, but KMR Sport's Alex O'Grady took second place to claim this year's championship title.
Green was untroubled through the slightly reduced 18-minute contest, and courtesy of a string of fastest laps, built a comfortable gap to O'Grady, who entered the race knowing he simply needed to finish on the podium to be crowned provisional champion.
Irishman O'Grady, in his second campaign in the series, joins Nikolas Taylor, Tom Mills, Linus Granfors and Ary Bansal on the GB4 champions roll of honour.
The decisive moment for O'Grady came on the opening lap, when the 17-year-old got an excellent launch off the line to overtake Fortec Motorsports' Thomas Ingram Hill into Paddock Hill Bend.
While Green streaked clear at the front to secure victory by 5.163 seconds, O'Grady put in an assured performance to withstand the pressure from Ingram Hill behind, not putting a foot wrong on his way to second at the flag. Ingram Hill was unable to mount a serious challenge for the position, completing the podium in third.
Hillspeed's Enzo Hallman and Ingram Hill's Fortec team-mate Franciszek Cegielski were fourth and fifth respectively. The pair had overtaken Pace Performance's Torrin Byrne on lap two, after the Briton ran wide into the gravel on the final corner. Byrne also lost a place to Elite's Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso as a result of his error, finishing behind the Venezuelan in seventh.
Hillspeed's Connor Willis, Pace's John O'Donnell and Arden Motorsport's Michael Koh completed the top-10.
Further back, Josh McLean mounted an impressive recovery drive to climb from 23rd on the grid to finish 14th. There was also late contact between Fortec's Jordyn Martin and KMR's Lily-May Watkins, as a snap of oversteer for Martin sent Watkins spinning into the gravel and out of the race at Sheene Curve with two laps to go.
