Elite Motorsport’s Fred Green claimed his fifth race win of the season in a disrupted opening contest of the Brands Hatch weekend on Saturday afternoon.
Green made a good start from pole, and then a decent restart after a safety car period to take victory, but championship leader Alex O'Grady moved up to second at the start to minimise the damage and move closer to the 2026 title.
Thomas Ingram Hill was slow away at the start and dropped to third behind O'Grady, but still secured his fourth podium of the year, but that wasn't enough to keep him in title contention.
Hillspeed's Enzo Hallman started fourth and finished there, and a couple of seconds ahead of Elite's Emmilio Del Grosso. The Venezuelan was in the thick of the race's biggest battle, which also included Pace Performance's Torrin Byrne and Douglas Motorsport's Dayton Coulthard. The Scotsman briefly got ahead of the pair after the safety car restart as he aimed to keep his title chances alive, but a tiny mistake allowed both Del Grosso and Byrne through, relegating Coulthard to seventh.
Fortec's Franciszek Cegielski strengthened his grip on the Rookie Title with a strong run to eighth ahead of Hillspeed's Connor Willis and Douglas Motorsport's Conor Grant.
Green made a strong start from pole position to hold the lead on the run to Paddock Hill Bend, while O'Grady slipped past Ingram Hill after making a decent getaway.
Racing was suspended behind the safety car at the end of the first lap after Arden's Solenn Amrouche made heavy contact with the barriers exiting Hawthorns. The safety car circulated for several laps while the French driver was tended to, but she ultimately stepped clear of the car, with racing resuming shortly afterwards.
Green chose to make the restart before the final corner, extending a comfortable lead to O'Grady as they crossed the line with six minutes remaining. Green steadily extended his gap over the remaining laps, taking the flag with a 2.1 second margin to O'Grady, while Ingram Hill settled for third a further second behind.
As a result, the championship fight however will go on to tomorrow, with O'Grady in position to win the championship in race two just after midday on Sunday. Coulthard, Hallman and Ingram Hill are no longer in contention with just two races remaining this year.
