KMR Sport’s Alex O’Grady heads into Saturday’s action at Brands Hatch with a chance of taking the GB4 Championship title a day early.
O’Grady has a 49-point lead heading into this weekend, and whatever else happens, should he score 54 points across the three races on the Grand Prix circuit, he will be uncatchable at the top of the standings. The Irishman has claimed a tally greater than that at every GB4 race event this season, with the exception of Donington Park last time out, where he scored 52.
The title can potentially be won in race one on Saturday, provided he finishes inside the top-five, and results elsewhere go his way. Should he finish inside that position, then fellow contenders Enzo Hallman and Thomas Ingram Hill will be eliminated from contention, while Dayton Coulthard would have to win race one and two, and then win race three from 13th on the grid or lower to claim the maximum points available for positions gained.
Here’s a run-down of permutations ahead of the race:
If O’Grady finishes race one 14th or higher, Thomas Ingram Hill will be eliminated from contention.
If O’Grady finishes race one 10th or higher, Ingram Hill and Enzo Hallman are eliminated from contention.
If O’Grady finishes race one fifth or higher, Ingram Hill and Hallman are eliminated, while Coulthard would need to win every race, including race three, where he’d need to start from 13th or lower on the grid to claim the maximum of 12 positions gained points. Green would need to finish 20th or higher to stay in contention.
If O’Grady finishes race one fourth or higher, all drivers are eliminated except Fred Green, who would need to finish 20th or higher to stay in contention
If O’Grady finishes race one third or higher, all drivers are eliminated except Green, who would need to finish 15th or higher to stay in contention.
If O’Grady finishes race one second or higher, all drivers are eliminated except Green, who would need to finish 10th or higher to stay in contention.
If O’Grady wins race one, all drivers are eliminated except Green, who would need to finish sixth or higher to stay in contention.
