Demitri Nolan joked that it was “good to get to the chequered flag” after finishing 14th in the first race at Oulton Park on Saturday.
The Hillspeed driver suffered two retirements from the three races during the season-opener at Silverstone but made up five places in the opening race of round two.
“To finish the race is always fun,” he laughed. “I didn’t have a great qualifying, had a mistake on my lap and we only had one lap.”
“[I] made some improvements, made some good passes in the race and thought I had some good pace. [I] could have caught the guys in front of me; I just needed more time.”
Looking ahead to race two on Monday, the American is aware of what he needs to do in order to repeat the success of race one.
“I’m going to try and make as good of a start as I can,” he said. “[I need to] keep consistent, stay clean and finish the race gaining some places.”
Nolan is in his first season racing in the UK, having made his single-seater debut in 2024 in the Ligier Junior Formula Championship following a brief spell in karting. Oulton Park has provided a new challenge for the 21-year-old but is one he is enjoying so far.
“This track is really fun,” he said. “It’s really hard and just everything I’m into in a track. [It’s] really physically and mentally difficult, I just love that stuff.”
He is also savouring the challenge of the Tatuus MSV GB4-025 car, comparing it to the cars he has driven Stateside in the first years of his career.
“This car is a really big improvement and I’m really starting to like it,” he said. “It’s very balanced, very forgiving and feels really fun.”
