Elite Motorsport's Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso has claimed podiums at both GB4 events so far, as he makes the switch from Ginetta Juniors to single-seaters.
The 16-year-old Venezuelan was second in the season opener at Silverstone, and then third in the most recent race at Oulton Park.
From a lofty grid slot, he was able to maintain position despite an intense scrap for the final podium spots that involved 10 cars!
"We started third, and we kept our place at the front. We tried to get Coulthard [in second] at the end and did the fastest lap by four tenths, so we were really quick. The pace was there" he noted.
While claiming his second podium of the season, Del Grosso was keen to emphasise his fastest lap status as proof that he's making quick work of the step up to slicks and wings.
"Oulton Park showed that we can really make progress, and I'm really proud of that, especially after working from qualifying 10th to race three and getting the fastest lap by a few tenths.
"It really means a lot to me, especially for my development. So I'm really confident heading to Donington Park."
The Oulton Park weekend was held in scorching temperatures as the UK basked in heatwave conditions, and more of the same is forecast for the Donington event next weekend. He reckons that will play to his strengths again.
"It's always hot in Venezuela, even if it rains, it's still hot! So for me I feel in my natural habitat, and it really suits me.
"The car behaves completely differently in these conditions, but I'm able to fight and be really quick."
