Following his GB4 debut at the end of the 2025 season at Donington Park, American-Korean driver John O’Donnell will return to the series for a full season, with Pace Performance.
Despite his limited single-seater experience and having never competed in karting, the 17-year-old impressed by out-qualifying four other contenders in challenging damp conditions at Donington.
O’Donnell also registered two 18th place finishes in his first experience of open-wheel racing in the UK, showcasing good consistency despite his lack of experience.
A newcomer to racing in 2025, the Korean-born driver from Boston, MA competed in three Skip Barber Formula 4 races in the United States, earning second-place finishes at Virginia International Raceway and New Jersey Motorsports Park. O’Donnell’s racing experience also includes Formula 4 testing with Jensen Motorsports.
With a full GB4 race weekend completed and winter testing mileage secured, O’Donnell returns to the championship for a full campaign in 2026 with a clear focus on development, consistency and progression across the series.
John O’Donnell: “Stepping into GB4 last year was a massive challenge, especially coming into the sport late and not having a karting background. Donington was a real deep-end experience, but it taught me exactly what’s required to compete at this level. The Pace Performance team has been instrumental in my development, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the team this season. For 2026, my goal is to master the UK’s iconic circuits, nail the fundamentals, and consistently move up the grid.”
Team Principal Sean Byrne: “It’s great to welcome John back to the team for the 2026 GB4 Championship. I think it’s fair to say he surpassed all expectations at Donington Park. As part of a three-driver line-up this season, he’s going to have plenty more opportunities to learn and develop with us. He has shown a lot of potential and we are confident in his ability to make the most of this opportunity. We look forward to seeing him develop through the 2026 season.”
