Fortec Motorsports' Jordyn Martin is gearing up for her first full season of single-seater racing in the GB4 Championship this year, and the American contender is looking forward to getting things started.
She arrives in the series with a strong karting background, and contested a handful of single-seater races at the end of last year, but the 15-year-old now has a year-long effort to look forward to.
"I’m super excited to be starting my first single seater season. It’s a huge step in my career and I can’t wait to learn and grow!" she says.
Having only contested a few kart races in the UK, she's also looking forward to adapting to a new environment with multiple champions Fortec.
"I’m expecting a huge learning process. Especially getting used to the weather and racing style in the GB4 car. But I am confident I will learn quickly and grow with the team throughout the season.
"I’m more than excited to be working with Fortec for these next two years. I have learned so much throughout the test days with them. We work really well as a team and I’m confident we can make something big this year!"
With GB4 offering a major prize for the top-scoring female driver, Jordyn has her focus on winning that as she eyes a future move to F1 Academy, with Alisha Palmowski and Ava Dobson both graduating to the F1-supported series following successful stints in GB4.
"Some of my main targets are aiming for the highest female [prize] and top-ten finishes.
"We are definitely looking to find a seat in F1 Academy. I joined GB4 because I saw many great opportunities including [a potential route to] F1 Academy."
