Having contested the final round of the 2025 season, Pace Performance contender John O'Donnell is back for the full GB4 campaign in 2026.
Considering his lack of experience, having never karted and only stepping into single-seaters earlier in the year, the 17-year-old impressed by registering two points finishes at Donington Park.
Now, with his plans for the year set in stone, the American-Korean is eagerly anticipating the start of a year-long effort in car racing for the first time.
"I'm super excited about this season" he exclaims. "Since this will be my first ever full season in any type of racing, I'm really looking forward to it."
For most drivers, the allure of competing in the UK is as a result of the country's rich motorsport heritage, and for O'Donnell it's no different.
"I wanted to compete in GB4 because the UK has a rich history in formula racing. There are more resources available in formula racing than in the US, the tracks are more relevant in my career and the competition is stiff."
Since his debut at Donington Park, John has had more opportunities to step into the team's Tatuus MSV GB4-025 machinery, including an initial programme in Spain.
"Pre-season testing is going well for me, since I have minimal experience in a single-seater or any race car, in my opinion it's crucial to do as much testing as possible.
"I can see improvements in every test that I do in my driving and overall car feel."
That extra seat time has allowed him to get fully ingrained in Sean Byrne's squad, which expanded into GB4 last year, and he's benefiting from the car racing experience of his teammates Josh McLean and Torrin Byrne.
"Things are going well with the team, we are all working together to make ourselves better as a team, and we get along well.
"In terms of my teammates, we push each other to become the best versions of ourselves, and both of my teammates are playing a big role in my progress."
As a driver with so little experience, O'Donnell's aims are simply to make constant progress this year.
"My goal for the season is to improve every single time I'm in a GB4 car. I want to learn as much as possible to achieve steady and consistent progress in my driving."
