Hillspeed's Connor Willis claimed a first GB4 victory in a typically dramatic reverse grid race to end the Silverstone weekend.
The American driver led every lap from pole, withstood a lengthy safety car period, controlled the restart well and held on to the lead across the final five minutes, crossing the line with over a second in hand to Pace Performance's Torrin Byrne, while Fortec's race two winner Thomas Ingram Hill blasted from 12th on the grid to complete the podium in third.
Willis made a strong start from pole and led away at the start with a decent margin to the pack. Behind him, Pace Performance duo Josh McLean and Byrne moved into the podium spots from fourth and fifth on the grid after third-placed starter Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso was eliminated on the first lap with damage at Maggotts.
The race was neutralised behind the safety car just over a lap later after a multi-car collision at Vale involving Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing's Jamie Leverton plus newcomers Faris Organji (Scorpio) and William Rohan (Arden).
With the three cars embedded in the gravel, a lengthy recovery process was needed, and action resumed at the end of lap five with less than six minutes remaining.
Willis made a good restart, crossing the line holding a half second margin, and maintained that next time around.
There was further drama on lap seven as Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing's Luke Hilton slammed into the back of McLean's car when battling for the last podium spot, and aiming to make it six rostrums in a row. That incident brought out double waved yellow flags at Vale once more with one and a half laps to go.
Willis escaped it all to clinch not just his first win, but also a breakthrough podium, with Byrne and Ingam Hill earning their second podiums of the season.
Douglas Motorsport's Conor Grant just missed out on his second podium of the event in fourth, having started eighth, with Elite's Fred Green gaining ground in the title race by gaining six positions on his way to fifth.
KMR's championship leader Alex O'Grady moved up three places as he completed the top-six, with Douglas Motorsport's Dayton Coulthard going from 14th at the start to seventh.
Elite's Matan Achituv took eighth from 13th on the grid, ahead of Pace Performance's John O'Donnell, who gained six positions throughout the contest. Scorpio's Archie Davies completed the top-10.
