Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing's Luke Hilton secured his first GB4 pole positions after securing both poles on offer in qualifying at Silverstone this morning.
The young Brit set a best time of 2m00.560s to claim race one pole, and a 2m00.629s to secure pole for race two, with that grid formed by each driver's second best times.
Fred Green was second for both sessions ahead of Alex O'Grady for the race one grid, and Enzo Hallman for race two. A total of 29 cars took part in qualifying, as GB4's record-breaking grid gets set for this weekend's season opener.
In a back-and-forth battle between Hilton and Elite Motorsport’s Green, it was the former who came out on top, each time less than a tenth of a second ahead of his fellow Briton. Green was 0.078s back with his fastest lap and just 0.012s off with their second-fastest attempts.
A last gasp lap from KMR Sport’s O’Grady secured him third on the grid for race one, with the Irishman 0.091s adrift of Hilton’s pole time, but he will start from fifth for race two, with Enzo Hallman (Hillspeed) and Emmilio Valentino Del Grosso (Elite) ahead of him.
Hallman made it four different teams in the top four for the race one grid, as he put his Hillspeed fourth – albeit nearly two tenths further back from the top three. Del Grosso was an impressive fifth, just his second time inside the top-10 this since testing began on Thursday.
Thomas Ingram Hill (Fortec Motorsports) was just 0.004s back from Del Grosso in sixth for race one. Jason Smyth (Douglas Motorsport) lines up seventh for race one, with the Irishman and Ingram Hill swapping places for race two.
Dayton Coulthard (Douglas) and lead rookie Franciszek Cegielski (Fortec) line up eighth and ninth respectively for both races, with 10th on the grid occupied by Archie Davies (Scorpio Motorsport) for race one and Connor Willis (Hillspeed) for race two.
Reverse-grid pole is provisionally held by Matan Achituv (Elite) who was 1.171s off the pace in 12th, with rookie Charlie Myers agonisingly close, just 0.006s behind the Israeli. Jordyn Martin comfortably led the female drivers, securing 16th and 14th on the grid for races one and two respectively.
The top nine were covered by one second in qualifying.
