The 2026 GB4 Championship season gets underway at 11.50 with the first qualifying session of the year, giving drivers a single 15-minute session to determine the order for the grids of all three races this weekend.
The fastest laps for drivers will set the grid for race one on Saturday afternoon, with the grid for race two determined by their second fastest lap times. Race three features a top-12 reversal from qualifying, with the rest of the field forming up in qualifying order.
Alex O’Grady appears to be the man to beat entering qualifying, with the KMR Sport driver topping both Friday test sessions and setting a best lap of a 2m00.549s. He was also inside the top two twice on Thursday as he looks to start his sophomore GB4 campaign strongly.
O’Grady will face plenty of competition from behind, however, with the top-10 on Friday separated by just 0.784s. Jason Smyth (Douglas Motorsport) and Franciszek Cegielski (Fortec Motorsports) were both within a tenth of a second of O’Grady’s time.
Behind them, Fred Green (Elite Motorsport), Luke Hilton (Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing) and Thomas Ingram Hill (Fortec) were all within a quarter of a second, with all three also having topped an individual session on Thursday.
With a record 29 cars set to take to the Silverstone GP circuit, it is anyone’s guess who will set the pace and claim the first pole position of the season.
