Phelps claims second consecutive Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award

08 October 2025

While battling to keep his GB4 Championship hopes alive, Elite Motorsport's Isaac Phelps claimed his second consecutive Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award at Donington Park last weekend.

As he pressed on in race two, he recorded a 1m27.702s effort, which proved the quickest race lap of the event, some half a second quicker than his nearest rivals.

While Phelps secured his second award of the season, three other drivers set fastest laps across the event. Eventual champion Ary Bansal was fastest in race one with a 1m29.248s, while KMR's Alex O'Grady set the pace in race three, with a 1m28.979s. In the rescheduled Brands Hatch race, Pace Performance's Stefan Bostandjiev lived up to his team's name with a 1m29.582s.

The Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award is presented by GB4's control fuel supplier to the driver who sets the fastest race lap at each race event.

Six different drivers claimed the prize this year, with Phelps' Elite Motorsport teammates Ary Bansal and Alex Kattoulas fastest at Donington Park and Silverstone respectively earlier in the year, while Callum Baxter (Graham Brunton Racing), Hillspeed's championship leader Dan Guinchard and Fortec's Thomas Ingram Hill also won the award.
