Championship challenger Phelps predicting more “feisty” action at Donington finale

01 October 2025

Elite Motorsport’s Isaac Phelps hit form at just the right time with a sensational double victory at Brands Hatch last time out, to shrink the gap at the top of the championship.

Phelps went unbeaten across the double header in Kent, and took a dominant double pole position in qualifying too. With championship leader Dan Guinchard finishing third in both contests, Phelps’ margin to the leader went down from 43 points to 21 heading into the Donington Park finale this weekend.

“It was a confidence boost [at Brands Hatch], but then the pace is a lot closer between everyone now, so we don’t know how it’s going to go” said a coy Phelps.

“The four races this weekend are going to be quite exciting, we will have to find out though because anything can happen for all we know!”

Phelps’ Brands Hatch results ended a run of five races without a podium, and he’s heading into the Donington Decider with full title aspirations as a result.

“Going off Brands Hatch, we may have it sorted, but we’ll have to find out where we are at Donington because people have been able to practice there and it’s going to be quite even.”

All eyes will be on the battle between Phelps and Guinchard, especially after the title contenders went wheel to wheel at Brands Hatch.

“It was feisty at Brands between us, I just need to make sure I beat him again at Donington!”
