Fortec Motorsport's Luca Magnussen enjoyed an impressive start to life in car racing, with a competitive showing in this year's GB4 Championship.
The young Dane entered GB4 with no previous car racing experience to his name, but was able to demonstrate a good turn of pace as the season went on, with numerous top-10 finishes going his way.
He admits he was satisfied with his campaign, with learning being his biggest objective.
"I'm really pleased with my progress over the season," he comment. "It was my first season in proper race cars so I had no expectations other than to do my best. Fortec is a great team, they taught me a lot this year."
The 16-year-old reckons his biggest performance gains came in races with challenging conditions, which was a part of his run to the podium at Oulton Park, during the first race event of the year to be hit by rain.
"My biggest improvement over the year has been my wet weather driving!
"The podium was the season highlight by far, it meant so much and pretty much came out of nowhere so we didn’t expect it."
Magnussen will move to GT cars in 2026, and having tested GT machinery in recent weeks, has signed up to contest the McLaren Trophy series next year.
"I am extremely happy to be able to take the next step to the McLaren Trophy and would like to thank my partners, SASHI Beef Lover, Admin By Request and the rest of my sponsor network for making it possible. Also a big thank you to both Paddock Motorsport and Douglas Motorsport for giving me the opportunity.
"My dream has always been to drive GT cars, and while karting and my recent season in GB4 have given me a lot of experience and created a strong foundation for my development as a racing driver, my dream is to one day drive the 24 Hours of Le Mans – and hopefully together with my big brother!"
