Graham Brunton Racing's Callum Baxter was the recipient of the Sunoco Fastest Driver of the Weekend Award at Oulton Park, with the fastest racing lap of the weekend being set by the Canadian during his stunning race three drive.
Baxter was amongst the 19 drivers who opted to change tyres during the aborted start procedure. Having initially opted for slicks in the assembly area before the race, he then changed to wets in the pit lane, but after the team realised he'd be at the back of the queue for the single file restart, opted to switch back to slick tyres as the weather continued to change.
With damp conditions greeting drivers during the bizarre first lap, Baxter's first time was significantly slower than the rest of the field, who were on wet tyres, leaving him 43 seconds behind the leader.
But as the track quickly dried as the rain subsided, only race leader Enzo Hallman was faster on lap two, and from that point, Baxter was by far the quickest driver on the circuit, at times up to 10 seconds faster per lap than most other contenders, who by now were already nursing their treaded rubber.
Having run 23rd for the first two laps, Baxter finally started moving up the order on lap three, climbing to 22nd. Up to 18th at the end of lap four, he was up to tenth next time around! Four more places followed on lap six, and two more gains were made on the next tour as he moved up to fourth.
With what was to prove just two laps remaining, Baxter was now 25 seconds behind the leader, and sliced nine seconds off that margin on the penultimate lap as he moved up to third.
Starting the last lap, the sophomore contender had just under 10 seconds to make up to catch Dayton Coulthard in second place, and in his pursuit, he set the fastest race lap of the weekend, a 1m38.592s, as he fell just 0.099 seconds short of grabbing second place.
Baxter is the third driver this year to claim the prize from GB4's control fuel supplier Sunoco. Fortec's Jack Taylor (race one, 1m49.198s) and Dan Guinchard (race two, 1m39.105s) were the other drivers to set fastest race laps during the weekend.
