Improving Pribyl targeting more top results after “solidifying” place in GB4

ADM’s Jason Pribyl is aiming to add to his GB4 podium tally, having achieved a breakthrough result at Silverstone back in April.

The American driver, in his first European slicks and wings campaign, finished second in the final race at Silverstone, though the ever changing conditions at Oulton Park left him wanting more.

“To be honest, at this stage of the season I’m a bit further behind than I would like” Pribyl admitted. “There has been a lot of improvement from myself and the team but after the challenging weekend at Oulton, it’s hard to place how I should feel about it all.

“We went into the weekend very confident, but none of the races were very representative of the progress we’ve made. It was hard to watch others getting lucky, or otherwise making the right decisions, but we move on, and we know what we can bring.”

Despite those challenges, the Silverstone podium remains a high point so far, and it could even have produced a victory, but for a small mistake while defending from eventual winner and championship leader Daniel Guinchard.

Even so, Pribyl reckons the silverware cemented his and the new ADM team’s place in the paddock, with both contending their maiden GB4 campaigns.

“The podium meant a lot to myself and the team. It solidified our place as a genuine team in the championship and it showed the progress we made from the first weekend of the season.

“Obviously it would have been nice to win, and if it wasn’t for the mistake we would have won. We know looking back that we had the pace to win, so there’s no unknowns in our eyes. That kind of stuff happens, and you only learn through experience.”

Pribyl is now making the most of the gap between races, and heads to Snetterton buoyed by promising pace shown in a private test at the venue last week.

“We’ve been taking this opportunity to catch up on some testing. Compared to the rest of the field we’ve had quite limited testing, and this is a good opportunity for me to settle down and drive the GB4 car without the pressure of a ton of eyes and the rushed environment an official test or race brings.

“Of course I’ve been enjoying the break in other ways, and I’ve got some friends and family coming to England, so I’ll assume the duty of tour guide over the next few weeks as well!”

His first GB4 campaign is Pribyl’s second year of racing in the UK following a race-winning season in the United Formula Ford Championship last year, which propelled him to the runner-up spot in the standings. He’s now fully acquainted himself into the UK racing scene, which allows him to broaden his future career options.

“I’ve been really enjoying racing in the UK. The more I evaluate my position, and where to look beyond this year, I feel very comfortable and encouraged by the opportunities. The structure of racing makes sense to me, the ladder systems are very appealing, and the competition, especially this year, is unmatched to what I’ve dealt with.

“I’m happy to say I’m racing at a higher level than I ever have in the US, so I can’t speak to it all, but I’m two years in, and I still feel like I’ve made the right decision.”
