Elite Motorsport's Ary Bansal stormed to a double pole position in qualifying at Snetterton this morning.
The Indian driver's first poles in the series came with a margin of just 0.012s over teammate Isaac Phelps, as both squabbled for top spot in the closing stages.
Hillspeed's Leandro Juncos was another last minute improver to go third ahead of teammate and championship leader Dan Guinchard, with the duo separated by less than a tenth of a second. Third is Juncos' best qualifying result in an ever-improving season.
Douglas Motorsport's Luke Hilton returned to form with the fifth quickest time, having figured towards the front throughout the 15-minute session, and a quarter of a second ahead of KMR Sport's Alex O'Grady in sixth.
Elite Motorsport's Alex Kattoulas ensured all three cars from the local team were represented inside the top-seven, and was just three thousandths of a second behind O'Grady, and 0.078s ahead of the lead Fortec Motorsports car of Thomas Ingram Hill.
Enzo Hallman (Douglas) and Leon Wilson (Arden) completed the top-10 for the race one grid, which was covered by less than a second.
Bansal took control of qualifying from the sixth minute when he went fastest for the first time. But Phelps was constantly pegging him back, and looked to have taken pole with just seconds remaining on the clock, only for Bansal to cross the line a couple of seconds later to steal it back.
Having set a 1m46.938s for race one pole, Bansal's second best time of 1m47.051s was enough to secure pole for race two also. Times were again close for the race two grid, with the Indian 0.048s ahead of Phelps again.
Guinchard moves up to third on the race two grid ahead of Hilton, with Kattoulas fith and O'Grady sixth.
Ingram Hill, Wilson, Hallman and Juncos complete the provisional race two grid.
