Elite Motorsport’s Isaac Phelps is the favourite to win this year’s George Russell Pole Position Cup, after claiming his third and fourth poles of the year at Brands Hatch last weekend,
Phelps’ first poles since the season opener at Donington Park came after a superb performance in Saturday’s qualifying session, securing race one pole with a margin of half a second to the chasing pack. Race two pole, decided by each driver’s second quickest qualifying times was secured by over two tenths of a second.
The double was enough to move Phelps two poles clear of his nearest rivals Alex Kattoualas, Dan Guinchard, Ary Bansal and Jack Taylor, who all have doubles to their names. Phelps is guaranteed therefore to be part of at least a tie for the end of year £1,000 prize.
Each pole in GB4 comes with a £150 prize as part of the George Russell Pole Position Cup, meaning Phelps has earned a total of £600 in prize money so far in 2025.
A single pole position at the Donington Park season finale in October, will secure him this year’s Pole Position Cup. The driver with the most poles at the end of the season will win the George Russell Pole Position Cup and an additional prize of £1,000. The team of the driver with the most poles will win the David Poole Warren Pole Position Cup, and a further £1,000 prize.
Awards are presented at each round by John Cavill, who has played a major role in supporting drivers in MSV’s championships since 2013, and beyond that with many other contenders who have gone on to become leading names in the sport.
