What they said: Silverstone qualifying

26 April 2025

Alex Kattoulas, Isaac Phelps and Luke Hilton were the top-three drivers in qualifying at Silverstone. Here's how each driver reacted at the end of the session.

Double pole, Alex Kattoulas, Elite Motorsport:
“It's really good, I had a tricky qualifying at Donington so to be on pole here means a lot.

"I was a little bit behind during the last two days, so I just kept my head still and just kept working on what I needed to work on and I’m really happy that it paid off.

"It was difficult dealing with the traffic, making sure you’re in a good position and maybe having to sacrifice a corner here and there for the traffic and to try and get a tow at the end of the lap. It was a bit tricky but I just focused on each corner, each time and each situation and take full advantage.

"I'm always aiming for a win, even [if I was starting] from last place, so yeah, that aim never changes.

"It’s been a while [since I won a race] to be honest so I can’t even remember, maybe some Asian X30 championship race. It’s been a while so really looking forward to trying to end that run!”

Second, Isaac Phelps, Elite Motorsport:
“A good position and I can maybe take a challenge to the front with that. It’s close but it’s a big track with a lot of straights and I think we can have a good race.

"Turn one is a lot harder to overtake here on the first lap compared to Donington turn one with it being a lot faster, but we’ll have to wait and find out if I can make a move I guess, because you can’t know until the race. You just have to go with it in the moment.

"I think it will be quite interesting but we’ll see, it’ll be quite tough to come away from the weekend with some good points as it’s so close.”

Third: Luke Hilton, Douglas Motorsport:
"It’s a massive step up from Thursday. We were just massively struggling with the car for the first round and this round but we’ve just made a massive development and I kept chipping away. The last time I was here in testing I thought I was in a good position but then we were consistently sixth so It was like 'ah okay so there’s work to find'. We just kept chipping away at the setup to find as much time on track and off track as we can. It just collectively came together and I’m over the moon with it. I said to the team if we were top-3 I’d be happy with that. It’d be an ideal position so yeah, I’m happy.

"I just want to try and get the first lap out the way as you know how it is with racing, always the first lap everyone’s trying to win. I'll just be trying to get through the first lap as cleanly as possible and try and chip away from there and see what we can do.”
