GB4 race two: Phelps battles to race two victory

GB4 race two: Phelps battles to race two victory

27 April 2025

Elite Motorsport’s Isaac Phelps forced his way past pole sitting teammate Alex Kattoulas on the first lap of race two at Silverstone, and then withstood two safety car periods to claim his second win of the season.

The Ginetta Junior Winter champion finished ahead of race one winner Kattoulas, with Ary Bansal completeing a 1-2-3 for the team with third place.

Phelps made a fantastic start off the line, launching immediately ahead of pole sitter Kattoulas before heading into Copse as Bansal remained in third position, where the three drivers would remain for the duration of the race.

An early safety car was deployed to recover Luca Magnussen’s stricken car, with Phelps holding on to the lead at the restart.

The chasing duo of Kattoulas and Bansal pressured Phelps for the whole race, with the leading trio split by just over a second across the finish line, with Kattoulas only a tenth behind Phelps.

Kattoulas’ second place finished sees him remain at the top of the championship heading into the final race of the weekend.

Fortec’s Jack Taylor also started well, jumping up from sixth on the grid to finish fourth. A feisty battle for fifth provided plenty of action, as Leon Wilson battled with Taylor, but the former lost out to Dan Guinchard as well, with the Hillspeed driver crossing the line in fifth as a result.

Leandro Juncos also made some opportunistic overtakes to take sixth place for Hillspeed, while Dayton Coulthard finished in seventh for Douglas Motorsport, despite making contact with Thomas Ingram Hill on the exit of Abbey corner.

Alex O’Grady came home in eighth for KMR Sport while Leon Wilson finished ninth in his Arden Motorsport machine, following a side-by-side fight with Coulthard in the closing stages. Graham Bunton Racing’s Alex Berg rounded out the top-10.

The third race of the weekend at Silverstone is due to start at 17.30 on Sunday afternoon.
