Linus Granfors, Finn Harrison and Lucas Blakeley were the top-three finishers in the second GB4 Championship race of the weekend at Donington Park. Here's how each driver reacted at the end of the contest.
Winner, Linus Granfors, Fortec Motorsport
“A really good race, it was super slippery so I was just trying to hold the car on the track. But yeah, it was a good race.
“I got a very good start, and I was on the outside of the first corner so that was just an easy pass and then you just try to get a gap. I was just trying to get a gap and then just drive for myself.”
Second, Finn Harrison, Elite Motorsport
“I mean [Linus] Granfors had us at the start. I think we were running two different strategies, but we were there at the end and it was a shame that we ran out of time at the end as it could have been a good little battle for the win.
“Yeah, I mean you get points for every overtake you do in race three, so I’ll just work my way through the field.
“I’d rather the rain stays away now, because the reverse grid is interesting.”
Third, Lucas Blakeley, KMR Sport
“It was a really fun race, congratulations to Linus and Harrison. That race was a really, really fun one. It was good to make some more places off the line, which was really key for the race. After the first few laps I managed to get past Alisha which was a really fun side-by-side battle going down the Craner Curves which was pretty sick. And then yeah, had a small bit of hope that a few laps after I’d start to push toward the win but Finn and Linus took off a little bit in that middle phase of the race and I was still seeing what the track was doing. I had a lot to learn in that race and I kind of wish I was here when it rained earlier in the year when everyone else was doing it. I’m happy with how I made progress in the race. I think towards the end I started to come back into it a little bit, all the while understanding there wasn’t much left. I was hoping to get involved in the battle and get an opportunity, but I’m going home happy with how I made progress through the race and I’m pretty sure it’ll be quite useful for later on.
“My Mum, Dad and little brother woke up at 4:30am, drove down from Scotland to Donington and are here to support me this weekend and I had absolutely no idea until they arrived at the KMR awning yesterday morning. And I hadn’t had the chance to race in front of my little brother in GB4 yet, so it was awesome. He nearly knocked me over yesterday. Great to have them here and I need to say a huge thanks again to KMR Sport because they gave me a really good car again in the wet and they gave me a lot of hope to keep pushing.”
