Harry Burgoyne, Lucas Blakeley and Alisha Palmowski were the top-three drivers in the final GB4 Championship race of the weekend at Donington Park. Here's how they reacted after the race.
Winner, Harry Burgoyne, KMR Sport
“It feels amazing, I got a really good start and just led the way from there. Lucas [Blakeley] put on a lot of pressure, so I had to really focus, and make sure I kept everything perfect.
“I managed to get them [starts] nailed at the end of last year and my starts have been good all year. It’s a good thing when you can just manage to jump them and then it was clean sailing for the rest.
“Lucas was pushing me all the way, I looked in my mirrors and I had a big gap at the start, but once he got to a certain distance he couldn’t get any further. I managed to be very consistent and just managed to keep going in the lead.
“It’s been a good year for KMR.”
Second, Lucas Blakeley, KMR Sport:
“I didn’t know if I could top what I did in yesterday’s race. Very good start, got up to P2, pace was great, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to make any difference, just following home P1 and a huge congratulations to Harry. He’s been overdue his first victory for a while now and it was good to bring home a 1-2 for the team. It’s one of those ones, it doesn’t really matter who’s quickest end of the day, around here it’s really hard to follow. You can’t get close enough in the right areas, but I gave it everything and pushed him all the way and didn’t make a mistake. He’s a deserving winner. I’m really happy for the whole team.”
Third, Alisha Palmowski, Elite Motorsport
“A great result. That’s our ninth podium of the year and I’m really pleased to come away with those points. Reverse grid races are always tricky, so pretty much damage limitation and trying to bring the car back in one piece, and obviously I’m looking at the championship, which is really essential for me. But a great result, I was aiming for a podium this race, so just really pleased to end the weekend on a high.
“I had so much more pace when I caught up to him [Dan Hickey] especially through the high-speed corners like Old Hairpin when there was a lot of understeer that nearly caught me out for a few laps when I initially caught him. It took me a little bit longer than I would’ve liked and the front two had already got away. Congratulations to Harry, I know it’s his first race win, so that’s great to see. I’m glad we managed to get a podium in the end.”
