GB4 race winner Lucas Blakeley has delivered a rave review of the new Tatuus MSV GB4-025 car following runs at Bedford Autodrome and then at Donington Park last week.
The Scotsman, one of the world’s leading Esports contenders, was instantly impressed with the machine, which will be introduced into the GB4 Championship from next season, having conducted performance running at the East Midlands circuit.
“Getting to drive the car for the first time at Bedford was a super cool experience, but to get to take it around a track that I’ve raced before and know well and meant I can directly compare it to the current car, and it is definitely a step in a good direction,” he said.
“It’s a lot of fun to drive, has really good traction, works well in the corners and the balance is really nice at both low and high speed. The brakes are extremely efficient, so everything on the car is working really well. It gives you a lot of confidence to push harder and harder.
“The main thing is that the car invites you to drive it hard, and the faster you drive it, the better it feels to drive. It’s a continuous effect where you keep driving more and more, pushing more and more and ultimately, it feels good when you do it. It’s a massive amount of fun and I’m really enjoying it.”
Blakeley was quick to point out that the GB4-025 is the ideal learning tool for drivers stepping into cars for the first time.
“It’s a very good starting point for anyone who is driving a single-seater for the first time, especially if the driver is hopping out of a kart.
“With the current GB4 car, you’ve got to be very disciplined to drive it in the sense of how you pick up the throttle, you can’t be too aggressive in certain instances, but with this car there is a wider range of how you can drive it.
“Coming out of the corners, with it being naturally aspirated and with the differential, the traction is phenomenal so you can really pick up the throttle nicely.
“With the general driving style you can be a little more aggressive in certain instances and you can really feel the aero working with this car. It gives a good sensitivity to feel the changes.
“It’s an absolute privilege to have driven around Donington Park in this car, a huge thanks to GB4 and Douglas Motorsport for inviting me down.”
