Race winner Liam McNeilly returns to GB4 with Fox Motorsport at Donington Park

16 May 2024

Fox Motorsport has confirmed that GB4 Championship race winner Liam McNeilly will return to the series with the team for the Donington Park event next weekend (25-26 May).

The 18-year-old from Brentwood, Essex, was victorious at Donington in 2023 on his way to third place in the Drivers’ Championship and has this year moved stateside to continue his single-seater career.

Liam, who is now advised by IndyCar race winner James Hinchcliffe, joins regular racers Branden Templeton and Megan Bruce in a third Tatuus F4-T014, prepared by the team from Maldon, Essex.

Prior to winning on his – and Fox’s – GB4 debut at Oulton Park last year, Liam was a front-runner in the Ginetta Junior Championship; finishing second in the 2021 main and Winter series and then third in 2022 with a total of 10 wins.

His career has continued in the USA this year in USF Juniors. Liam took pole position and a race win on his debut weekend in the series at NOLA Motorsports Park and currently sits third in the standings.

He has remained involved with Fox Motorsport this year, working on driver coaching with the team’s Ginetta Junior and GB4 racers and sharing his experience of both series in test and race events.

Liam McNeilly said: “My next USF Juniors race isn’t until the middle of June, so the chance to get back behind the wheel in racing conditions was just too good to miss. Donington’s a great track and I’ve had some of my best wins in both GB4 and Ginettas there. Helping the Fox drivers this year has been a new experience for me and one I’ve enjoyed, but nothing beats racing so I’ll be aiming for the podium at the very least and trying to have as much fun as I can.”

Team Principal, Paul McNeilly said: “It’s great to have Liam back behind the wheel in GB4, even if Donington is only planned as a one-off to keep him race-sharp ahead of his next US event. In some ways it’s like he’s never been away because he’s a regular presence at tests and races using his recent experience of GB4 and Ginetta Juniors to help our young competitors develop their driving and racecraft. We’d expect him to be right at the front while also helping Branden and Megan, who continue to build experience in their rookie seasons.”
