GB4 Silverstone test day one: Fortec registers new record time

19 March 2024

Fortec Motorsport led the way on the first day of GB4 testing at Silverstone courtesy of an aspiring new series entrant. The best time recorded was a 2m00.730s, eclipsing last year’s pole position time by 0.045s.

The newcomer was quickest in each of the four sessions at the British Grand Prix venue, as they made an instant impression in GB4.

Alisha Palmowski, the pace-setter at last week’s Donington Park test, was second quickest this time around for Elite Motorsport, just over a tenth clear of KMR Sport’s Harry Burgoyne, with the top-three all recording their best laps in the third session of the day.

KMR’s Brandon McCaughan, driving a GB4 car outside of the ‘Shootout’ for the first time, made strong progress throughout the day, setting his best lap in the final session.

That was enough to put him just under two tenths clear of the second Elite car of Finn Harrison, with Arden Motorsport’s Leon Wilson inside the top-six.

Branden Templeton was the lead Fox Motorsport car in seventh ahead of the second Fortec, piloted by Dan Hickey. Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter ensured that eight of the top-nine runners recorded their best laps in session three.

Megan Bruce completed the top-10 for Fox Motorsport, courtesy of her session two time from this morning.

Testing resumes tomorrow with four further sessions.
