Granfors triples up in session four to end Thursday fastest at Silverstone

25 April 2024

Fortec Motorsport’s Linus Granfors set the quickest time for the third session running at Silverstone, as the Swedish driver ended the day quickest at the home of the British Grand Prix.

Granfors ended the session with a near nine tenth buffer to the rest of the pack, headed by KMR Sport’s Oulton Park race winner Brandon McCaughan. Granfors’ session four time was a 2m01.398s, but it was his session three time that was the best of the day, and just over a tenth faster.

McCaughan’s championship leading teammate Harry Burgoyne was third fastest in session four, just under a tenth further back and a similar margin ahead of Graham Brunton Racing’s Callum Baxter.

The third KMR car of Chloe Grant was fifth quickest, only five thousandths away from Baxter and 0.013s ahead of Arden’s Leon Wilson, who completed the top-six.

Alisha Palmowski was next up for Elite, and only a tenth further back, with Fox Motorsport’s Branden Templeton equidistant and in eighth.

Privateer Marcus Luzio completed his strong opening day in ninth, ahead of the second Elite car of Finn Harrison.

On the combined times, Granfors’ session three time put him 0.078s clear of McCaughan at the top of day, with the Irishman also setting his best lap earlier in the afternoon.

Baxter and Wilson were next up with efforts in session three and two respectively, and ahead of Palmowski (session three) and Burgoyne (session four).

Grant’s final session flourish was enough to put her seventh ahead of Templeton’s session two effort, with Harrison and Luzio completing the top-10 courtesy of their session three efforts.

Two more test sessions on Friday will complete the weekend preparations, ahead of qualifying and race one on Saturday.
