Harrison looking forward to GB4 debut at Donington Park

20 October 2023

GB4 debutant Finn Harrison is hoping to enjoy himself as he enters his first ever single-seater races at Donington Park this weekend.

The 17-year-old from North Wales will continue with his Ginetta Junior team, Elite Motorsport, and has been testing at Donington and Jerez ahead of the final round on 21/22 October.

“I’m looking forward to it, it’s going to be a bit touch and go but it’s going to be a fun weekend,” said Harrison. “It’s good to be in another class with different racers.

“We had some nice sunny weather [testing in Jerez] and now the rain is coming at Donington. We’re going to struggle more in the wet but in the dry I think it’ll be quite a good race.”

After using Ginetta Juniors as a proving ground, Harrison sees GB4 as the next step in his career.

“The GB4 car is more of a proper race car. It’s a car that has got slicks, stiff suspension, it’s an open-wheeler, it’s a feeder series. It’s proper.

“Definitely, into the future, this is one of the many steps. It can feed into anything. It can feed into GTs all the way into Formula 1 and IndyCar.”

Harrison is realistic in his chances for this weekend and beyond, considering his debut comes after a full season for his rivals.

“No targets, it’s a training weekend,” he said. “[Regarding next year] everyone says they want to win the championship, it’s definitely one of my goals but you can’t go in now without knowing what you want to improve over the winter.

“For now, I’m looking forward to it, it’s going to be great and I’m going to enjoy it.”
