Queen sets fastest time of the week in final session

26 May 2023

Fortec Motorsport’s Colin Queen set the fastest time of the week in the final session of the day at Donington Park.

The American set a time of 1m26.638s to put himself just 0.009s quicker than Fox Motorsport’s Liam McNeilly, who had gone quickest with 10 minutes to go. McNeilly was on another quick lap when he went off at the Fogarty Esses with five minutes remaining, bringing out the red flags and necessitating an early conclusion to proceedings.

Shortly before McNeilly’s drama, Queen had just set his best time of the week, and putting him top of the pack for the third time in six sessions.

The top-two had a margin of 0.169s to Evans GP’s Cooper Webster, inside the top-three once more and a quarter of a second clear of Elite’s Josh Irfan in fourth.

Jeremy Fairbairn was the lead KMR Sport driver in fifth, 0.239s ahead of Irfan’s teammate Harri Reynolds, with KMR’s Tom Mills, who has also topped three of this week’s sessions, and Fortec’s Ruhaan Alva separated by 0.003s in seventh and eighth.

Aditya Kulkarni was next up in ninth, and 0.048s clear of KMR’s Jack Clifford who completed the top-10.

On the combined classification for the day, Queen, McNeilly and Webster all set their best times in the final test, while Mills jumps to fourth courtesy of his session one effort. The remainder of the top-10, from Irfan down to Clifford, also set their best times in the session three.

The GB4 entrants are back on track tomorrow for qualifying at 10.55, ahead of the Silverstone carryover race at 14.45, and the first ‘Donington’ encounter at 17.45.
