Fairbairn heading into maiden GB4 season with “high hopes”

07 March 2023

Jeremy Fairbairn had his first taste of the Kevin Mills Racing GB4 car at last week’s Silverstone test day, and the American contender quickly got up to speed.

Across the two days, the Florida resident proved an even match for teammate Jack Clifford, with the pair regularly together on the timesheets.

Ending the test just 0.004s away from the Australian’s best time, Fairbairn admits he greatly enjoyed his seat time and is eagerly anticipating the season ahead.

“It’s been my first time in the car, I’ve driven the US F4 but this is nothing like it honestly, I like it so much better.

“Also, it was my first time driving something with a turbo so I’m just getting used to that a bit and it took a few sessions. The first day was in the wet, that was good fun at this track, Thursday was dry and I had good fun in the dry too. It’s really been confidence building and having a lot of fun.”

The 18-year-old has experience not just of single-seaters courtesy of stints un USF Juniors and F4 in the USA, but his Kevin Mills Racing team too, having run with the Gloucestershire squad at last year’s Formula Ford Festival.

That experience means he’s got aspirations of running towards the front of the grid when the new season starts at Oulton Park on Easter weekend.

“I have high hopes coming into the season, I’ve had some time in single-seaters so I have pretty high expectations.

“It’s all about seat time at the moment, getting as much time in the car as possible and as comfortable as I can with the new car and with the team. It’s going to be busy, but for sure I’m looking forward to everything.”

Fairbairn will be back in action at Oulton Park tomorrow.
