Webster demolishes Snetterton GB4 lap record in opening test

15 June 2023

Evans GP’s Cooper Webster recorded the fastest ever GB4 lap around Snetterton in the first test session of the week this morning (Thursday).

The Australian’s time of 1m47.827s came right at the end of the 45-minute test, and is seven tenths of a second faster than the best qualifying time from last year, set by Nikolas Taylor.

Webster was half a second faster in the session than Fortec’s Colin Queen, who was also beneath lap record pace, with KMR Sport’s championship leader Tom Mills third and a further half second back.

Fox Motorsport’s Liam McNeilly was fourth, ahead of the second KMR car of Jack Clifford, with McNeilly’s teammate Sid Smith completing the top-six.

Graham Brunton Racing’s Harry Burgoyne Jnr was next up, a quarter of a second clear of Fortec’s Aditya Kulkarni, with Jeremy Fairbairn taking to the wheel of a GBR car for the first time and was ninth fastest.

F1 ESports champion Lucas Blakeley, who is sampling a KMR car across the next two days, completed the top-10.

Arden are also continuing a GB4 test programme for Leon Wilson, as are Fortec with an unnamed driver, with the pair 11th and 12th, ahead of the fourth Fortec machine of Ruhaan Alva, which completed two laps without recording a time.

Dylan Hotchin and Thomas Lee will join testing tomorrow.
