GB4 Championship leader Tom Mills extended his title lead with a double victory at Silverstone and is in a position to wrap up the title a round early at Brands Hatch in September.
The KMR Sport driver secured a clean sweep of the races run with two wins, poles, fastest laps and by led every lap to give himself a 98 point lead over Evans GP’s Cooper Webster with six races remaining.
“After the championship lead came down a bit at Snetterton, I was hoping we’d be able to extend it again here,” said Mills. “We were fast here in both the wet and dry last time in May. We managed to do that and made sure I made no mistakes. I did do a bad start in race one which made it a bit harder for myself but once I got into the race, it was pretty plain sailing.
“It’s a shame the last race got cancelled. Two wins, two poles, two fastest laps. Pretty good weekend.”
The final race of the weekend was cancelled due to weather conditions but this meant Mills keeps his sparkling record from the round. That leaves one target for Brands Hatch.
“Extend the gap a bit more, I’m getting close to the magic number. Who knows what will happen? It’s a really hard track to master, there’s no margin for error there and it’s really hard to overtake so qualifying is really important. We’ll see what happens because each weekend it seems to ebb and flow with who is faster. We’ll have to wait and see.”
