KMR Sport's championship leader Tom Mills claimed his sixth and seventh pole positions of the season in qualifying at Silverstone this morning, and in doing so, claimed the George Russell Pole Position Cup, with two rounds still remaining.
Mills controlled the session throughout, setting the initial benchmark halfway through the session and the first driver to break into the 2m00s bracket. He then continued to shave fractions off his time, with his eventual best of 2m00.775s being a new qualifying lap record for GB4 at the circuit.
It was close run though, as Fortec's Colin Queen put his car second on the grid, just 0.106s away from Mills and a similar distance ahead of Fox Motorsport's Liam McNeilly.
Mills' closest championship rival Cooper Webster was fourth for Evans GP, 0.4s away from McNeilly and just 0.057s clear of KMR's Jack Clifford, who enjoyed his best qualifying session of the year in terms of both pace and position.
Fortec's Ruhaan Alva was sixth, 0.336s clear of teammate Aditya Kulkarni, with Harry Burgoyne eighth for Graham Brunton Racing.
Newcomers VRD Racing were inside the top-10 courtesy of Zack Ping, who was ninth and 0.189s clear of Fox Motorsport's Sid Smith, who completed the top-10.
VRD's second car of Erik Evans was a tenth of a second outside the top-10, and ahead of Evans GP's Thomas Lee and privateer Dylan Hotchin.
Mills' sixth and seventh poles of the season means he will be presented with the George Russell Pole Position Cup and the end of year cash prize at the Donington Park season finale. His nearest rival for the prize, Webster, can only take a maximum of six poles by the end of the season.
The first race of the weekend is due to commence at 14.40.
