Queen: first win “a case of when, not if”

12 July 2023

Fortec Motorsport’s Colin Queen heads to Silverstone at the end of the month with full confidence that a breakthrough win is just around the corner.

The American driver has taken five podiums from the last seven races at Donington Park and Snetterton, and took his best result of the season with second place on the series’ first Silverstone visit of the season back in May.

Having firmly established himself in the lead group in his first campaign of slicks and wings racing, and with seven podiums in total from the 12 races so far, plus a pole position at Donington, Queen’s next target is that elusive victory.

“It’s frustrating that we didn’t quite get the win we were aiming for going into the weekend [at Snetterton], but it was another consistent haul of points and two podiums,” he said.

“We had great pace throughout but it’s so crucial to optimise the first couple of laps and make up some ground, and after qualifying we just had a little too much to do on that front.

“We’re consistently at the front of the grid every weekend now, and it’s definitely a case of when, not if, for that first win, so I’ll keep pushing hard to make it a reality.”
