Scorpio Motorsport to offer GB4 test prize to Ultimate Karting Champion

10 August 2022

Scorpio Motorsport, the team which operates Christian Lester’s Rossoverde Racing car in the GB4 Championship, will offer a test prize to the winner of this year’s Ultimate Karting Championship (UKC) in the Senior Rotax division.

The team, which was a mainstay in Formula Renault championships before embarking on a sports car programme, has returned to single-seaters this year with Rossoverde in the GB4 Championship, and intends to expand the entry next year.

As part of the package, Lester’s car will be on display at this weekend’s final round of the UKC, at the Three Sisters Circuit near Wigan. The team will be on hand to discuss options in the GB4 Championship, which has established itself as a key destination out of karting for young up and coming racers.

The test prize is slated to take place at MSV’s Bedford Autodrome complex, with the current front-runners in the UKC and likely contenders for the GB4 test including Louis Harvey, Lorenzo Kordal, Kearn Tsang, Jenson Watts and Caden McQueen, though with a significant amount of points available at the final rounds, as many as four other drivers could leave the event with Scorpio’s GB4 test prize.

Louis Kershaw, the team’s Head Mechanic is hoping to uncover a future star during the test. “We’ve really enjoyed being back in a single-seater paddock this year, and we have firm intentions to run multiple cars in GB4 next year. To do so, we need to tap into the karting scene and the Ultimate Karting Championship is where we’re looking at. There’s a lot of promising drivers who will do very well in a racing car, and hopefully a prize test with us for the champion will lead to them joining GB4 with Scorpio Motorsport next year.”
