Waberski's wrap-up:: South African star reviews his GB4 campaign

09 November 2022

South African contender Jarrod Waberski proved to be one of the stars of the GB4 season. The now 17-year-old was a late addition to the field for the Snetterton season opener, but was immediately on the podium, and hardly off it thereafter. He took second in the driver’s standings courtesy of a double win at the final Donington Park round, his third and fourth triumphs of the year.

Here’s how he reacted to his first season of European racing:

Best moment:
I'd have to say my first win in Oulton Park, as that sealed the deal for me to do the rest of the championship.

Toughest moment:
The first Donington round earlier this year. It was our worst race weekend, and this was the moment we took a different approach to the setup of the car.

Favourite race of the year:
The Donington final, the best weekend we had all year, our pace was strong throughout the whole weekend.

Favourite driver to race against:
I'd say Max (Marzorati). We've had tons of wheel to wheel races and close finishes throughout the year.

What if moment:
I'd have to say the second Silverstone weekend, race one. That mistake made the whole race weekend a lot tougher, starting further back with the grid penalty. We had the pace for more wins.

If I could race anything next year:
if I could do absolutely anything next year. I'd have to say Formula 1! But realistically I'd say GB3.

I'm going to spend the winter doing:
I'll be training, training as much as possible to be as prepared as I can be for next year.
