Jessica's journal: 2022 season review

07 November 2022

Fortec driver Jessica Edgar’s first season of car racing came in the GB4 Championship, as she made the leap from karting to single-seaters. Big improvements in pace came quickly, and she took a podium at Oulton Park plus three other top-five finishes.

She finished seventh overall in the standings, and impressively, was one of just two drivers to finish every single race contested this year.

Here’s how she summed up her season:

Best moment:
I think the whole year has been a great experience but my best moment would be my podium at Oulton.

Toughest moment:
I think the toughest part of the year was Snetterton when we had gear issues in the first race and the car wouldn’t start for race three. It gets frustrating when there’s nothing you can do about it, but that’s all part of racing.

Favourite race of the year:
I think this one has to be Brands Hatch race one as I was right up at the front and it rained too.

Favourite driver to race against this year:
I think my favourite driver to race against would be Max Marzorati or Jarrod Waberski because they are both good drivers and would race hard but fairly with you.

That what if moment:
Everything went perfectly…

If I could race anything next year:
If I could race anything next year I’d love to race GB3.

I'm going to spend the winter doing:
I’m spending my winter preparing for a better year next year.
