Gilkes gears up for Canadian Grand Prix support-race appearance

14 June 2022

GB4 double race-winner Megan Gilkes will return to racing action in her homeland this weekend (18-19 June), as she prepares for an appearance at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Gilkes will be racing in the F1600 category at the Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve, with two races in front of the watchful eyes of the F1 paddock.

The 21-year-old has plenty of experience of Formula Ford-style machinery like that raced in F1600, and is hoping to make an impression at the event.

“I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be racing at the Canadian Grand Prix in the Formula 1600 support race!” she said.

“I have been planning on competing in this race for three years now, but with Covid cancelling the previous two Grand Prix, I am thrilled to have the chance to race around such an iconic street circuit on the same weekend as F1!”

“I’m hoping to keep building on my previous success as I start my Canadian racing campaign for 2022!”

Gilkes will take part in one race per day across the weekend, with the first coming up before the F1 qualifying session on Saturday, and the second taking place on Sunday morning.
