Daryl DeLeon makes his GB4 debut with Valour Racing this weekend, with both the driver and team gearing up for maiden single-seater contests.
The 17-year-old has proven to be a Donington Park master in Radical racing, having won three times at the circuit. That track knowledge has proven to be a useful asset as he adapted to single-seaters across the past two days.
“The pace has been good,” he said. “I’m changing from sports cars to single-seaters but I’m pleased with how fast I’ve adapted to the car. I think now, because our pace is good, it’s just about ironing out the little creases.”
DeLeon has been racing with the team since the start of the season, so the familiar environment around him has been useful as he changes disciplines.
“Obviously I already know the team because I raced Radicals with them, so it’s all about settling into the single-seater and getting things like the brake traces right and getting things sorted to get where we want to be.”
His teammate Danny Harrison is also making his single-seater debut this weekend, and DeLeon reckons the pair will be evenly matched.
“I think my targets are similar to Danny to be honest, I think we both knew we could do well and I’d be happy if we’re in around the top-five.”
