Walker/Taylor championship battle extends to George Russell Pole Position Cup

Elite Motorsport’s Alex Walker and Fortec’s Nikolas Taylor are closely matched at the top of the GB4 Championship standings, and their fight has extended to the George Russell Pole Position Cup too, with both drivers equal on three poles each.

After Taylor took two poles at Snetterton, and Walker had his own double at Oulton Park, honours were shared at Silverstone with each driver taking a pole apiece.

Walker took pole for the first race in the closest GB4 qualifying session yet; just 0.065s quicker than teammate Jack Sherwood on the longest circuit layout of the season.

Meanwhile, on the race two grid decided by each driver’s second best times, it was Taylor who claimed the front of the pack starting position, a tenth clear of Hillspeed’s Max Marzorati.

Both drivers scooped £125 in prize money for their poles, and have taken home £375 each across the season so far.

Contenders in the GB4 Championship secure £125 for each pole position earned in qualifying, plus a trophy, while the driver with the most poles at the end of the year will scoop a £1,000 prize.

“It probably won’t be shoes this time!” Walker said when asked what he’ll do with the money. “It’ll go back into the racing pot again and hopefully we can get some new tyres later on in the season.”
