High five! Taylor claims fifth win of the season to extend title advantage

25 June 2022

Fortec’s Nikolas Taylor extended his GB4 Championship lead with his fifth win of the year in the first contest at Snetterton this afternoon.

Taylor started from pole and led every lap, finishing 1.5 seconds ahead of Kevin Mills Racing’s Tom Mills, who was second on the road but dropped down to sixth after picking up a 10-second penalty for starting out of position.

Mills started second, but jumped out of his grid slot before the red lights were extinguished and was penalised as a result. Despite that, he took the challenge to Taylor, firmly in the slipstream of the Anglo-Malaysian driver in the early stages after rebuffing a challenge from teammate Jarrod Waberski on the first lap.

Waberski was credited with second after his teammate’s penalty, maintaining his record of taking a podium at each race event this year, and 1.856s behind Taylor at the chequered flag.

Jack Sherwood continued his recent run of podiums by taking third for Elite Motorsport at the team’s local circuit. Sherwood’s drive included an entertaining battle with Hillspeed’s Max Marzorati, and highlighted by a sensational move around the outside of Palmer corner on the third lap.

Marzorati settled for fourth ahead of teammate Megan Gilkes, while Mills’ penalty dropped him ahead of an exciting battle between the Graham Brunton Racing duo of Logan Hannah and Chloe Grant.

The Scottish duo went wheel to wheel for several laps, providing plenty of entertainment, with the battle decided in favour of Grant late on, with the pair separated by 0.3s at the end of the race.

Fortec’s Jessica Edgar was the final finisher in ninth place.
